Born in Colorado, B.J. Crombeen grew up in Newmarket, Ontario. His father Mike Crombeen also played in the NHL as a member of the St. Louis Blues.

Crombeen discovered he had diabetes at age 9, but that has never stopped him from achieving his hockey goals. For Crombeen, the discipline that comes with managing his type 1 diabetes is also something that has helped him find success in life.

Crombeen played his first NHL game on January 19, 2008. Since then he has played over 400 more, scoring 32 goals and 76 points in his career. 

B.J. is known as a guy that sticks up for his teammates, often stepping in to fight the enforcers and tough guys of other teams. He has over 800 career penalty minutes in the NHL.
